How this calculation works

Zero-hours, irregular and annualised contracts accrue holiday as you work it. Since April 2024 the standard method is 12.07% of hours worked — enter the hours in a period to see the leave earned.

100 hours worked × 12.07% = 12.07 hours holiday

Frequently asked questions

How is zero-hours holiday calculated?
The standard method accrues holiday at 12.07% of the hours you work. Work 100 hours and you earn 12.07 hours of paid leave. The percentage comes from 5.6 weeks as a share of the 46.4 working weeks in a year.
Where does 12.07% come from?
A year has 52 weeks; 5.6 are holiday, leaving 46.4 working weeks. 5.6 ÷ 46.4 = 12.07%, so 12.07% of hours worked reproduces the 5.6-week entitlement for irregular hours.
Can my holiday be rolled up into my pay?
For irregular-hours and part-year workers, rolled-up holiday pay became lawful again from April 2024. It must be an itemised 12.07% uplift on your payslip, not hidden in your basic rate.
