Sick Leave Tracking
UK · 3 calculatorsTrack how much of the 28-week SSP ceiling is left, when a new sickness absence stops linking to a previous one, and how the 3 unpaid waiting days apply — duration and dates only, not the pay amount itself.

Statutory Sick Pay is payable for a maximum of 28 weeks in any one period of incapacity for work (PIW) or series of linked PIWs. Two periods of sickness link together if they're separated by 56 days (8 weeks) or less — once a gap exceeds that, a fresh 28-week entitlement begins, so tracking the exact linking deadline matters as much as tracking the 28-week ceiling itself.
The first 3 qualifying days of any PIW are unpaid 'waiting days' (they aren't reapplied if a new absence links to one within the last 8 weeks) — so the payable days in any spell of sickness are the qualifying days in that period minus those 3, not the full length of the absence.
